Mehdi Zand, descendant from legendary Persian royalty, left his homeland at a young age in search of freedom.
In the heart of that child there ignited a burning passion that has become the essence of his being today.
Where there once stood a boy stripped of childhood innocence by life experience, family tragedy and the downfall of his homeland there now stands a man of consciousness and understanding, others could not even contemplate.
There is no doubt that Mehdi Zand has a special connection with his writings and the driving force that continues to awaken the pen deep within his mind.
However while still in his youth this energy began to manifest as an unusual and mystical martial arts skill. Those few who witnessed firsthand still find it hard to believe how the sharp blade of his sword cut through the darkness and sliced its target while being blind folded.
Within a few years of opening his own martial arts school in North London, the news of his ability spread fast attracting hundreds of students from far and wide. His reputation soon caught the attention of many national and international publications such as Combat and Fighter and was also interviewed by BBC World Service Radio regarding the philosophy behind his martial art.
Thanks to his charming nature many people who meet Mehdi Zand for the first time find themselves instantly drawn towards him. And it is because of this nature that those close and loyal to him have stayed by his side to this day, despite the highs and lows of his extraordinary life.
The journey was the search to discover the truth of what we call 'the unknown'. He wanted to understand what existed beyond our realm of touch and learn the purpose of his own existence. He asked questions of the clergies and learned academics, he read with hunger books of religious scriptures and philosophies of past and present, but his questions of immortality, duality, creation and the injustice of life all remained unanswered.
Through the first spark of passion to the evolution of his imagination his pen became another sword.
First came the Book of Seda a collection of Persian poetry social, political and spiritual. Then The Book of Yaad, a complex series of writing about creation, not yet published. But it was not until he contemplated history from the beginning of creation to now, that the volumes of The Exordium were born. For anyone who has read his writing they will also find it hard to believe, that a man foreign to the English language until his late youth, would be able to write so skilfully.
At times the words came flooding from his pen. Nights without sleep and hours searching for the perfect word would have tested the most calm character.
As a writer he is unique but as a friend he is someone that very few will forget. Each day his humour, kindness and understanding touches those around him. With these qualities he has forged friendships that promise to last beyond this life to the next.
A man of wisdom and man of passion, Mehdi Zand has a wealth of qualities with which to realise his dreams. It is his wish that every one walking the face of this Earth should hold within their hands The Exordium and see with their eyes the wisdom of all his writings. And through all his writings and future works to be remembered until the end of history and beyond.
You may think these are unrealistic expectations but to Mehdi Zand, it is only a matter of time.
Open the pages of The Exordium and you will believe it too.
